Students from all year groups at Oakley Vale Primary School were put through their paces by champion hurdler Alex Knibbs during a recent visit.
Knibbs, who is a 400m bronze medallist in the junior world championships, told students how when he was their age he tried out as many sports as he could before he settled on hurdling.
Teacher Liam Keith said: ‘He gave a really interesting talk and a question and answer session and really encouraged our students in their sports activities. He led fitness circuits with all year groups and the students took part in sponsored events, with some of the money going to Alex to help with his training while the rest will be used to buy sports equipment for the school. Thanks to everyone that sponsored the students, they had a great time taking part in the training.’
